Discovering What Resources Us

Hurricane Ridge in the Cascades

Hurricane Ridge in the Cascades

Our life experiences may be a mixture of what we want to forget and those we long to remember, all-the-while embracing the moments that prompt our hearts to sing with joy. We may discover that our attempts to forget the pain, whatever it may be, may return to us in one way or another, and our efforts to shove it back down may feel futile. Finding the resources to create safety for ourselves such that we may gently look into the direction of the pain may in time allow us to move through the valleys and barren spaces of the pain. One essential piece of the counseling process is to discover our inner resources and benefit from the ones that surround us in our familiar settings. Walking through the beauty of Hurricane Ridge within the Cascades may offer abundant resources of beauty that can breathed inward: clean crisp air, vibrant colors of flowers, greenery, and snow sprayed throughout the mountainsides. Discovering our resources is part of the journey when beginning the counseling process. And once we start looking for what resources us, we may realize the benefits experienced from them and seek all kinds of wonderful ways to resources ourselves for the rest of our lives.
