Safety in the Present Moment

These trying days are a time to connect more deeply within ourselves. Our belief systems contain the thoughts we have about ourselves and others, a layered experience of our soul being tethered to our body. Our beliefs (ie. what we think) are the laws we live by, programmed into us by cultural and familial influences, rooted in our psyche by age seven. It’s the negative beliefs (rather than the positive ones) that carry the most energetic weight in our psyche. Our soul attaches, makes meaning and remembers what happened to us in the past and projects it onto the future. It’s from this place that we may struggle to trust that we are safe. If we didn’t feel safe in some way in our family of origin, then, as adults, we project that familiar experience onto our future, perceiving we are not safe. It’s impossible to be in the present moment when we are tethered to our past, and yet we are merely following the laws we live by. When we don’t feel safe, we remain in fear and are likely in fight or flight.

The Law of Attraction acknowledges we can only create a reality in life that corresponds with our belief systems. Our human psyche is wired for survival and in our minds, true safety is only what we know and what is familiar to us; therefore, in life, we draw to us what is known and familiar. It’s not an accident that we find ourself in relationships, whether it be a boss, partner, friend or someone else, who may trigger familiar feelings.

Because we are in a body, we make meaning about our experiences. In so doing, we literally forget who we really are. How come? Because our negative beliefs/thoughts are distortions of what’s divinely accurate, and thereby, separate us from ourselves, others and our spiritual connection. The good news: when we feel separate, we may drop more deeply within ourselves to experience another dimension, that of our spirit which is free and untethered. Only when we are in the present moment (that extends into the next present moment…on and on…extending forever) are we accessing this other dimension within us, gifted to us from the divine breath breathed into us. When we are in the present moment, fear is absent and the divine is present with unfathomable love. Our spiritual journey/responsibility is to discover the present moment where true peace/love resides and then extend peace/love outward to others.

Only when we release our distorted thinking can we experience the present moment that extends forever. We may find that a healing intention similar to this one supports us in discovering the present moment of peace and stillness where we fully trust the divine for our true safety: “I release my thoughts and beliefs about ______ (a person, a situation, etc.) so that I receive true safety in the present moment that extends forever.”  Blessings for the journey such that we can see the beauty of the light within that extends outward.
